Obituary of Wendy Sue Blackwell

It is with great sadness that the family of Wendy Blackwell announces her passing on Nov. 5, 2024 after a long and courageous fight against cancer. Wendy is survived by David, her loving husband. Cherished mother of her children Paul Chalmers (Julia), and Heather Chalmers (Umar). Stepmother to Shannon Blackwell and Meagan Hollinshead (Shane). Nana will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Evan (Emily) Noah, Anna (Jacob) Fiona, Savannah & Marten and great grandchildren Micah, Abby & Elizabeth. Dearly loved sister to Robert Culliton (Carolyn) of Fonthill and sister in law to Paul (Heather), Peter (Wendy) and Barb She was a nurse and nurse practitioner for 38 years, dedicated to the caring for children and their families at Children’s Hospital London Health Science Centre. When she retired, she continued to support these children and families by volunteering with the Service League. In her retirement she stayed active with curling and golf at Highland Country Club and swimming. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, and playing bridge and mahjong, traveling to many different places in the world, and watching hockey (Knights & Habs), spending time at the cottage with the kids was one of her most treasured times. She was a very caring person, and her love and kindness will be greatly missed. We would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the London Health Science Centre for their professional and thoughtful care of Wendy on her final journey. Cremation and burial have taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Highland Country Club on Nov 24 at 1:30 – 3:30pm at Highland Country Club, 1922 Highland Heights, London.
