Obituary of Claude Eugene Sparks
It is with great sadness that the family of Claude Eugene Sparks, age 86, announce his passing on April 18, 2024, at Country Terrace Nursing Home in Komoka, Ontario. He was born in Weymouth Falls, Nova Scotia to the late George and Elizabeth (Smith) Sparks.
Claude was a devout Jehovah’s Witness for 62 years. Even while in the nursing home with dementia, he never forgot his God, Jehovah. Despite being ill all his life, Claude was a hard worker. He started working at the age of 15 in the woods logging when his father was injured at work. He took over the role as breadwinner for his parents and younger sister. Later, while married, he started his own cleaning business, Claude’s Cleaning Services, and worked at that until he was no longer able to work because of asthma. Family meant a lot to Claude.
Claude was a caring and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a serious man with a sense of humor. He was liked by everyone who had the privilege to meet him. During his four and a half years at the nursing home he kept his spirits up, joking with the staff and enjoying lots of laughter when his family visited. The PSW’s and nurses lovingly called him “Papa”. He will be missed by all including the staff at Country Terrace.
Claude dearly loved his wife of nearly 55 years, Ada. Besides his wife he leaves behind his two daughters, Wendy (Darren) Johnson, Ontario, Earlene Sparks, Ontario, two grandsons Jaleel Sparks, Kadan Johnson, two great-grandsons, two step-granddaughters, Megan Johnson, Emma Johnson, brother Spencer Sparks, Nova Scotia, sister Brenda Cromwell, Ontario, as well as many loved nieces and nephews, special lifelong friends Churchill, Eddie, George, Gordon and Malcolm. Besides his parents he was pre-deceased by brothers James (Bill), Quinton, Vincent, Freddie and sisters Marjorie, Annette, and Erna.
As per his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 86 Baseline Rd W, London, Ontario.
