Obituary of Eileen Mabel Little
On October 8, 2024, Eileen Little of London, Ontario passed away at the age of 88. Over the past year, she confronted cancer with the same determination and spunk she showed throughout her life; never letting it take her joy, energy or feistiness without a fight. In her final days, her family gave her the strength that was taken through illness and guided her through a peaceful passing.
Born in Toronto, Ontario on May 28, 1936, Eileen was the eldest child to Joseph and Alice Little. She was predeceased by her younger sister, and best friend, Joan McKissock and her brother Paul Little. Eileen married Robert Cordes in 1955 and they had 3 sons which they raised together before divorcing in 1986.
Eileen enjoyed staying busy, living life to its fullest and helping causes she cared about. As a lifelong learner she took several correspondence courses and later learning sign language, Power Squadron and numerous other courses including calligraphy, golf, and “powder puff mechanics”. In addition to working fulltime, she spent some time as an entrepreneur selling used cars, farm fresh eggs and worms! She was an active OPSEU member; attending many rallies, protests and numerous meetings. She loved travel with friends and family and particularly enjoyed her trips to Egypt, Israel, Italy, Ireland and numerous nearby excursions to places including Branson, New York, Quebec and Frankenmuth. In 2023, she enjoyed a lifelong dream trip to the Yukon! Another great pastime for Eileen was Photoshop. She LOVED restoring old photos and had lots of fun creating some truly unique calendars customized for several family members; using restored photos and her own creations!
Eileen was passionate about giving back to her community. She was a 25 year volunteer with Make-A-Wish and a devoted supporter of Youth Opportunities Unlimited.
Eileen is lovingly remembered by her children Doug, Brian (Diane) and Steve (Connie) Cordes, her 4 grand-daughters Amanda (Chey), Cassie, Jessica (Justin) and Emily as well as her extended family and her many friends. A celebration of her life will be held on October 26, 2024 at YOU Made It Café, where family and friends are invited to share their memories and honour a remarkable woman who lived life to the fullest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Youth Opportunities Unlimited or Make-A-Wish in Eileen's memory, ensuring her legacy of love and kindness continues to flourish.
