Our thoughts are with you all, especially with Marge, David, Bruce and Tracey. Uncle Bill was certainly well-loved and had a long life, well-lived. Our dad, Bert, would get regular family updates through Bill’s wonderful handwitten letters (often composed over a few days), and we all read them, and were hugely entertained by them. And Marge, your postscripts to them always carried your love and best wishes to us. No-one can underestimate the courage Bill (and many others) showed when, as a much younger man, he carved out a new life on a distant foreign shore (five Barrow lads were planning to go, and three dropped out!): and didn’t he do brilliantly? Love to you all, in particular you Marge, Bill’s ‘rock’ (and the grandchildren and great-grandson), and you all remain in our thoughts.
