Obituary of Ronald Gordon Murrell

With broken hearts we share that Ron has passed away peacefully with his family by his side at St Joseph’s Hospice on Windermere on Sunday, June 13th in his 73rd year. Loving husband of Lenore. Cherished son in law of Prudence Williams. Amazing Dad to Erin (Curtis) Gartly, Craig (Heather), Graham (Erin), Lindsay (Ricardo), Kendall (Matt), Bradie (Doug) Parker, and Katy (Pete). Loving Grandpa, Papa, or “Big Papa” to Reese, Racheal, Laine, Ava, Ella, Callie, Leif, Quinn, Hugo, Remi, Gus and one on the way! Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Jean (Elgie) Murrell. Ron was born on Christmas Day 1948. He grew up in the country, farming on the original family farm with his mother and father and a close community of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Ron met his wife Lenore, a Toronto born and bred nursing student and charmed her into loving an amazing country life. Together they raised seven children on the family farm. Ron was a proud pig, dairy and cash crop farmer and a Pioneer and Precision Planting dealer. He was active in minor hockey, listening to piano practicing at all hours of the day, the Thorndale Masons, Thorndale Tug of War, 4H, Junior Farmers, Ontario Milk Board, Thamesford Trojans Executive, and a participant in many community events such as the Thorndale Fair Pie Auction. He will be remembered as a supportive husband, father, grandfather, neighbour and friend. You could ask Ron for advice or help on anything and he would gladly provide a detailed anecdote. He courageously dealt with his health struggles with the help of Dr. Henry Chapeskie, Dr. Nick Power, and Dr. Kylie Potvin. His last weeks were spent at St Joseph’s Hospice under the care of Dr. Andrew and the incredible staff there. We will be forever grateful. Cremation has taken place.
