Obituary of E.V. Allan Wilson
E.V. Allan Wilson It is with great sadness that we share the news of Allan’s passing. After a lengthy illness he passed away peacefully at Parkwood Hospital Palliative care on March 18, 2021 at the age of 94 just 11 days short of his 95th birthday. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Yvonne Wilson, daughter Kathryn Dunn (Brian) of London and son Peter Wilson (Bonnie) of Strathroy. Dearly loved grandfather of Sarah Dunn (Phillip Maas), Michael Dunn (Jessica Barre-Dunn), Jason Wilson (Vania), Andrew Wilson (Michelle), and Sean Wilson (Julia). Alan adored family get togethers with his six special great granddaughters Aleah, Mya, Evelyn, Adeline, Fallon and Mila- all his “Beauties”. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Jessie Wilson (Malone), his brother Elliot and sister-in-law Margaret. Fondly remembered by nieces Linda Van Ry, Lori Asaro (Tony) and nephew Richard Wilson (Angela)- all part of “The Clan.” Allan was born at home in Leaside on March 29, 1926 when that part of Toronto was still surrounded by farmland. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve 1944-45 in British Columbia. As a divisional accountant for Supertest in Toronto, London and Montreal he became Manager of Systems and Data Processing at head office in London and coordinated the merger with BP Petroleum. Allan thoroughly enjoyed working at the University of Western Ontario for 12 years before retiring. An avid skier all his life, he was a founding member of Dr. Doug Firth’s Toronto Ski Club Patrol and enjoyed many ski vacations with his friend Roger. Allan and Yvonne travelled to many places that were dear to them including Florida with relatives and friends, California with friend Lynn James and salmon fishing on Vancouver Island. Allan loved the cottage on Koshlong Lake in Haliburton where he always had a “Special Project” on the go- his favourite being his continuous work on the Bunkie. He truly appreciated the support he received from family, friends and neighbors during his illness. Allan will always be remembered by his family for his continuous love, concern and generosity. Cremation has taken place and a family gathering will be held to celebrate Allan’s life when conditions permit. Ontario Cremation Services entrusted with arrangements.
