Obituary of Kenneth Dixon
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Dixon on May 28, 2026, at the age of 79. Ken was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by service, craftsmanship, and devotion to his family.
Born on July 23, 1946, in Station Town, Wingate, United Kingdom, Ken began his lifelong dedication to public service when he became a police officer in Newcastle upon Tyne at the age of 19.
In 1969, Ken emigrated to Canada and made London, Ontario, his home. He continued his policing career with the London Police Service, where he served his community with integrity and dedication for many years until his retirement.
In 1971, Ken married the love of his life, Sandra (Murray) Dixon. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and lasting memories. He was the proud father of Suzanne Root and her husband, Reg Root; Stephen Dixon and his wife, Shannon Simpson; and Geoffrey Dixon. He was also a devoted grandfather to Cameron Dixon, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Constance Dixon. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Dorothy Fisher, and her husband, Ray Fisher, in the United Kingdom, as well as by his niece, nephew, and three great-nieces.
Outside of his career and family, Ken pursued his interests with enthusiasm and remarkable knowledge. He was a lifelong aviation enthusiast who rarely missed an airshow and could identify an aircraft with only the briefest glance. The sound of an airplane overhead never failed to capture his attention.
In retirement, Ken discovered a passion for bird carving. With extraordinary patience and artistry, he meticulously carved and painted birds, bringing each piece to life through careful attention to detail. His work reflected both his talent and his deep appreciation for nature. He also enjoyed exploring stained glass artistry, creating beautiful pieces that showcased his creativity and craftsmanship.
Ken will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to serving others, his quiet wisdom, his skilled hands, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
