Obituary of Gerhard Frank

After fighting through numerous health challenges to make it to his 90th birthday, Gerhard passed away in his 91st year on Wednesday May 20th, 2026. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sue and his son, David. Gerhard will be missed by his daughter Catherine Lake, her husband Ron, grandson Joe Veenstra, granddaughter Kristin Veenstra, her husband Dan and great grandson Wilfrid Roach (W5) Gerhard was born in Kitchener and moved to London where he worked at 3M and retired after 35 years. He enjoyed many years as an active member of the 3M retirees. Gerhard, along with his wife Sue, took immense joy in hosting gatherings, bringing together family and many lifelong friends for celebrations large and small. Music was more than a hobby for Gerhard, it was a way of sharing his faith and connecting with his heritage while forging lasting friendships in the Holy Family Parish Traditional Choir for 50 years as well as the Lyra Choir at the German Canadian Club. Gerhard was also a passionate and dedicated stamp collector. He spent countless hours meticulously sorting, researching, and preserving tiny pieces of history from every corner of the globe. He was a proud member of the London Middlesex Stamp Club, where he loved trading and talking stamps with fellow collectors. Special thanks to the many wonderful dedicated staff who went above and beyond in caring for Gerhard this past year at Parkwood Hospital as well as Earls Court Village. The family will always remember your empathy, kindness and compassion. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday June 5, 2026, 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valletta Street, London ON. Following the service please join us for one last beer to celebrate his life at the German Canadian Club, 1 Cove Rd, London ON, from noon till 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, any memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or The London Food Bank.
