Obituary of Geoffrey Michael Foster
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Geoff on October 7, 2025 in his 90th year, at Extendicare in London, Ontario. He passed peacefully, in the presence of his loving wife and family. Born May 4, 1935 in Christ Church, Barbados, son of Colin and Marjorie Foster. Predeceased by his siblings Lionel and Maureen (Hatch). Survived by his wife Marisa, married in Barbados 65 years ago they had three children; Geoffrey, Kelly-Ann (Hepburn) and Arthur Colin. Grandfather to Christopher, Michael, Sarah, Karyn and Ali. Great grandfather to Jaxon, Grayson, Henry and Olive.
He attended Harrison College and graduated Sixth Form in 1952. He joined the Canadian Bank of Commerce (now CIBC) in 1953 in Vancouver, B.C. until he transferred to the Main Branch in Bridgetown, Barbados in 1956, in 1965 he was promoted to Assistant Manager. Afterwards he held positions in Canada from 1970 until returning as the Manager, Main Branch Barbados 1973. In 1975, he was promoted to Area Manager for the Eastern Caribbean. He returned to Toronto in 1980, then transferred to New York in 1981 and then to London, Ontario as the Manager of the Main Branch 1983. In 1986 he was appointed Vice-President, Corporate Banking for Southern Ontario. He retired from the CIBC in 1992 after 41 years of service. He volunteered on several Boards including St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation and Victoria Hospital.
Cricket was his passion, as some people would remember he was known as a “left arm spinner” bowler. He represented Wanderers Cricket Club 1956-70 and Barbados Cricket Team 1958-61. Upon moving to London, he took up golf and enjoyed many years at the London Hunt and Country Club.
He has been cremated and a private family Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to your favourite charity. A celebration of Geoff’s life is being planned for a later date.
