I met Maureen through her friend Debbie Martin, in the summer of 1975. At Maureen’s invitation I spent a summer in Winnipeg with her, learning how to be a vegetarian, how to be a feminist and, in general, how to be cool. My favourite memory of Maureen is when we went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Maureen was unique, very much her own person, and a kind soul. Thank you for all your teachings Maureen and May you Rest In Peace.

To our dearest sister, Maureen , as a young girl you had your sights set high. The goals you set for yourself , you accomplished. You’re helping caring hands in the medical profession, going further as a paediatrician. Your worldly travels keeping family in the loop, not through iPhone or emails but through postcards. We love you, miss you, never to be forgotten. Forever in our hearts until we meet again. ❤️ your family .

Maureen you are so missed. Today I fulfilled my final promise to you. The house is so empty without you. I planted a white rose of Sharon in your honour (we both know how much you loved pink ~wink). I chose white because it represents loyalty, respect, reverence, and remembrance. I think it's a good color for both of us.
You are always in my heart however now you will forever greet me at the front door as well. Rest peacefully knowing you are so loved and missed by myself, my family and our fur family.
With love, Sheryl, Shyann, & furbabies

Our friendship began nearly 6 decades ago, on a yellow country school bus travelling from Fork River to Dauphin Manitoba, where we attended grade 7 together at Lieutenant Colonel Barker VC school.
We had a meeting of the hearts that kept us supporting each other through our trials and triumphs along life’s path.
I knew she was brilliant from the word go and I was proud to call her my friend. Even though she wouldn’t provide me with the answers to a history, problem on a grade 7 exam. When I asked her for the answer, she whispered back” You should have studied”.
Little Did I know at the time That she had a photographic memory and would become a Pediatrician, with remarkable diagnostic skills.
In 1976 Maureen flew to Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia to visit me and this was the beginning of her lifelong passion for travel.
Our final adventure together was to the Dominican Republic where my husband, Larry, and I worked with her organization, the Blue House Effect in an orphanage.
Maureen’s heart was large and she loved many especially children.
I will miss my beloved friend.

Fondly remembering our trip to Ireland. Upon visiting a museum there we had to pay an entrance fee. Either, child, youth, student, adult or senior. Maureen says she’s a student. The staff asked her “of what” . With her quick wit, she replies , “a student of LIFE “ . That got her a free entrance while I had to pay full price. Maureen, you’re forever in my heart ❤️. I’ll never forget you, until we meet again I love you, sis, Marilyn

I will remember my Aunt Maureen for sharing her travel experiences with me as a young girl, then my girls, with photos, postcards and gifts from different countries. I enjoyed “ talking shop” with my Aunt and sharing work stories from the health care field. My cousin Marnie and I went to visit Aunt Maureen just before Covid and I will cherish the fond memories made that weekend. Thank you Marnie for stepping in and getting care and help set up early on for Aunt Maureen and thank you for being a great support to my mom Marilyn. Rest in eternal peace.

Maureen you are loved and missed by my family and myself. I am thankful that our paths crossed and friendship formed. Dulaly is still a bit crazy but she misses you too. You will always hold a special part of my heart and your memory will forever bring many comfort. Rest peacefully until we meet again, love Sheryl
