Obituary of Laura Jean Cullis (nee Brown)

Peacefully at Southbridge London on June 11, 2025 aged 97. Predeceased by husband John Alexander Cullis. Beloved mother of two daughters, Catherine Jane Hewer (Jim) of London Ontario and Patricia Lee Boyd (Jonathan) of Brampton Ontario. Proud Grandmother of Beth Castelluccio (Joseph) of Oakville Ontario, Sharon Dupeyron of Aubagne, France, David Hewer (Jordan) of Belmont, Ontario, Michelle Evans of Edmonton, Alberta, Ruth Boyd of Ottawa, Ontario and Catherine Boyd of Calgary, Alberta. She was the Great Grandmother of Lucy Dupeyron, Michael Castelluccio, Norah Evans and Gretel Evans. She is fondly remembered by her sister Lois (nee Brown) Cook of Owen Sound, Ontario and sister-in-law Lois Cullis of London, Ontario. Jean invested many years in raising her daughters and in her church community at First Baptist Church North Bay, Ontario. As her family grew older, she attended Laurentian University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. She returned to Nursing to become a clinic nurse at the Callander Medical Center and after completing a nurse refresher course she subsequently joined the North Bay and District Health Unit. After retiring from Nursing, she and John wintered in Florida where downhill skis used in North Bay were traded for golf clubs. Her love of her Saviour Jesus, family, serving others in home, church and community was her secret to a happy, fulfilling life. A private family funeral will be held in London Ontario. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Compassion Canada or Samaritan’s Purse would be gratefully acknowledged.
