A Note to My middle name Namesake
I will miss your kindness,
A warmth that envelops all,
Your gentle heart reaching out,
Answering every call.
I’ll miss your generosity,
Slipping cash with a laugh,
Refusing to take it back,
Your joy, our shared epitaph.
Your hospitality was unmatched,
Feeding us ‘til we were full,
In food comas, we would rest,
On the floor or couch, so peaceful.
Your love was always near,
A call away, a steady hand,
A source of strength and comfort,
In life’s vast, shifting sand.
Your laughter, once ignited,
An unstoppable, joyful song,
A cycle of giggles and fluffs,
In every moment, we belong.
Your knowledge of sports and athletes,
A joyful surprise,
Even on your last day of speaking,
Your enthusiasm still shines.
Most of all, your dedication,
A bond that would not break,
From the moment you chose to stand,
With love that we could stake.
You came to our wedding,
Grandpa guiding my way,
In that sacred moment,
You vowed to always stay.
You never wavered,
A steadfast heart, so true,
Encouraging and loving us,
In all that we would do.
With every fiber of your being,
You lifted us up high,
A beacon of support and grace,
A love that will not die.
In every moment that we shared,
Your spirit shines so bright,
A shining example of love and grace,
A wonderful life, a guiding light.
I will love you forever,
Through all the days to come,
In my heart, you’ll always be,
A cherished, endless sum.
